Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms that Apple uses Sony camera sensors

Tim Cook recently tweeted that Sony’s image sensors had been used in iPhones for over a decade. In case you were unaware, this is a major development. Apple is notoriously secretive about the possibility of installing third-party hardware on its gadgets. Usually, only the features and technical details are provided, never the brand name.
Took tweeted the news alongside a photo of himself and Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida at the company’s Kumamoto site. The iPhone has the best camera in the world because we’ve been working with Sony for over a decade,” Cook said. I appreciate Ken and the rest of the crew taking the time to give me a tour of their state-of-the-art plant in Kumamoto.
We’ve been partnering with Sony for over a decade to create the world’s leading camera sensors for iPhone. Thanks to Ken and everyone on the team for showing me around the cutting-edge facility in Kumamoto today. pic.twitter.com/462SEkUbhi

It has been speculated that the iPhone 15 series will have a cutting-edge Sony image sensor. It is claimed to take a crisp picture of a person’s face even when lit directly from behind. According to reports, Sony’s new sensors have a saturation signal level twice as high as traditional sensors.
This Sony camera sensor, it is said, can take in more light without suffering from over- or underexposure. Sony, however, has not yet begun mass-producing these sensors. Reportedly, their production will take place in the firm’s Nagasaki facility. The iPhone 15 series is anticipated to debut in the second half of 2023.
New types of Sony cameras are expected to be included in the future iPhone series, indicating that the cooperation between Apple and Sony will continue. Additionally, it was revealed on Tuesday that Apple had spent over $100 billion on its Japanese supply network over the course of the last five years.
Cook tweeted about his trip to the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). Since 2019, the number of suppliers has increased by 30% to an estimated one thousand diverse firms ranging from sole proprietorships to conglomerates. Sony Group Corp. is a significant provider of camera sensors for iPhone products in Japan.
