The tech Apple is going to hold a live ‘Peek Performance’ event on March 8 at 10 am PT (11:30 pm IST) at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. Apple fans are waiting for the announcement of new products. Speculation is rampant about a sequel to 2020’s iPhone SE, an updated iPad Air with 5G, and at least one new Mac with Apple Silicon is going to announce tomorrow.
You’ll be able to stream Apple’s event straight from the company’s website.
Apple is thought to have a busy year of product announcements in store for 2022. This will include multiple new Macs, at least three new Apple Watches, new iPhones, and more. Next week’s event is the first of the year, but it’ll only check off a few rumored product announcements from the list for 2022. To help set expectations ahead of the event, we’ve compiled a list of products Apple is unlikely to announce tomorrow
Apple Peek Performance Event Details
Larger Apple Silicon iMac
Apple will announce at least one new Mac at its event, but that’s unlikely to be a larger Apple silicon iMac. Apple last updated the iMac with the 24-inch design powered by the M1 chip.
The other iMac in the lineup, the 27-inch iMac, continues to feature an almost 10-year old design, but Apple is rumored to be working on a new model expected to launch sometime in the summer. The larger Apple silicon iMac is powered by the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, features a mini-LED, ProMotion display, and a design similar to the 24-inch desktop.
A successor to the 2020 iPhone SE is almost guaranteed at this moment. the $399 device was a surprise hit. During its Spring event next week, Apple will most likely launch the third-generation, which won’t be drastically different from the previous model with exception of an ultra-fast 5G connectivity and a powerful A15 Bionic processor. Expect the iPhone SE 3 to look exactly like the iPhone 8. It will feature a 4.7-inch LCD display with thick top and bottom bezels and a Touch ID home button. The iPhone SE 3 will be pitched as Apple’s most affordable 5G smartphone and will likely cost $399.
iPad Air will gain 5G
There will also be an updated iPad Air at Apple’s March 8 event. This iPad will be a mid-range option in Apple’s tablet lineup. It will arrive with 5G connectivity support, either A15 or M1 processor, and the Center Stage camera feature which keeps you and anyone else with you in a frame on your video calls. The next-generation iPad Air will continue to feature a side-mounted Touch ID and an LCD display.
High-end Mac mini
In addition, a refreshed Mac mini will arrive. But it won’t replace the existing Mac mini with the M1 chip. Instead, it will be a high-end Mac mini and will replace the Intel-based model that now feels odd in the current Mac lineup. There is a high chance that it will ship with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, first seen on the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pros last week. The new Mini Mac will feature a new design and more ports.
