Flipkart on Thursday announced the ‘Love it or return it’ program, a new way to shop for premium smartphones. When you buy your next high-end smartphone from Flipkart, you will be able to return the device within 15 days and get a full refund on the purchase value. As part of the pilot project, Flipkart has tied up with Samsung, and both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will be available on the e-commerce website as part of the program.
Arief Mohamad, Senior Director, Flipkart said:
“’Love it or return it is Flipkart’s commitment to solving real-time customer needs and transforming their shopping experience. We are giving the consumer an option to experience the smartphone of their choice in person, to decide if it’s the right choice for them. We are delighted to have Samsung as our partner and look forward to scaling the program over the next few months.”
If a return request is initiated, a quality check will be done by Flipkart to ensure that the phone is in complete working condition. The amount will reimburse to their bank account. This offer is not applicable to all users in India. Only buyers from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Gurugram, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and Vadodara can avail of this offering on the Flipkart app.
The approach behind Flipkart’s “Like it or Flip it” program is to increase the confidence of consumers who want to buy a premium smartphone online. Many consumers, even day to day, prefer a physical retailer to purchase high-end phones. Flipkart wants to change this way of thinking and the “Love it or Return it” program will help the e-commerce player to simplify online shopping for high-end smartphones.
Another reason Flipkart has come up with this program is the growing size of premium phones in India, the world’s second-largest smartphone market. Even though ultra-high-end smartphones are only a small fraction of those in the overall mobile phone market, the premium segment is growing faster than expected. Research firm Counterpoint expects Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, and Vivo to drive the ultra-premium smartphone segment, which is expected to grow by more than 60% in 2022.
