Flipkart starts selling Infinity scooter on its website, may add more EVs to list

Flipkart has also started selling scooters through its platform, which is quite huge and you might not expect it. Bounce has launched its latest Infinity E1 electric scooter and interested buyers can order through Flipkart. The scooter is listed on the e-commerce site with a starting price of Rs 70,499.

There is also a flat rate discount of Rs 5,000 on prepaid transactions,

which basically means that customers will be able to purchase the scooter at an effective price of Rs 65,499. Flipkart’s listing indicates that users will have to pay an additional amount to the dealership as well as for the charger.

Rival Ola Electric sells through its own app, while other players like Ather Energy and Hero Electric sell through dealerships.

The development comes at a time when electric scooter sales are growing month on month after dropping earlier following multiple fire incidents and a chipset shortage.

Hallakere said-

“We firmly believe that electric scooter distribution will be an omnichannel play and e-commerce will play a crucial role in its geographical expansion and bringing customer delight. We are delighted to make our products available on Flipkart as we find synergies in our vision of fulfilling customers’ evolving requirements in a seamless manner,”

Walmart-owned Flipkart said it was committed to bringing market access for sellers and direct-to-consumer brands,

Once an order is placed for a Bounce Infinity vehicle,

the customers will be reached out through authorized dealers in their location for RTO registration, insurance, and delivery of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Ola Electric, an electric vehicle company, announced that it will be investing USD 500 million in a battery innovation center which will be set up in Bengaluru. Apart from this, the State Bank of India has already signed an agreement with Karnataka Digital Economy Mission to set up the first special bank branch for startups and it will be opened at Koramangala of Bengaluru in August.

Rakesh Krishnan, senior director, electronics at Flipkart said –

“In this endeavor, we are delighted to work with Bounce Infinity to enable them to offer their electric scooter to millions of customers through our platform. Through this first-of-its-kind initiative which we are exploring in five cities, to begin with, customers will be able to seamlessly place an order on Flipkart and the vehicle will be delivered by Bounce Infinity’s dealer network,”

There are basically insurance, registration, and handling charges, so you will have to spend an additional Rs 7,601 as well as Rs 9,999 for the charger. So, the total cost will be Rs 83,099 if you avail of the prepaid transaction offer. If you choose to go without an offer, then the amount will be Rs 5,000 higher. The company is also giving a warranty of 3 years for the scooter.
