If you are a user of Instagram stories, there is some good news for you. The Meta-owned photo-sharing platform is said to be working on a feature that will allow users to put videos up to 60 seconds long in their story. At present, users can put on a 15-second long video story. If a user records or uploads a video longer than 15 seconds, it automatically gets split into multiple different Stories.
As per the report, the photo-sharing platform is also testing a revamped interface for posting Stories that will make it easier to mention other accounts or add a location to a post. The step is the latest move in Instagram focusing more on videos than pictures, following the addition of the popular ‘Reels’ feature, and other video additions like the recently introduced Reels Visual Reply feature that lets anyone reply to comments on their Reels with another Reel.
Currently, ByteDance owned TikTok is the most popular standalone app for content creators to edit their videos, and it is no surprise that Instagram also working towards attracting more creators by introducing the ability to share longer videos. TikTok was banned in India last year.
Instagram Other Latest Features
The social media company had also started rolling out Instagram Badges. Badges allow users to show support for creators during a Live video on the platform. Users aged 18 and above with more than 10,000 followers in select regions will be able to use Instagram Badges. Once purchased, the Badges will appear alongside comments during a Live cast.
Instagram will soon let users add music to their feeds. It will begin testing the feature in Brazil and Turkey. Users will no longer have to rely on third-party apps to add music to their pictures or videos that are posted on the Instagram feed. If you end up clicking on the song, you will be taken to an audio page that showcases all Feed posts that have used that song.
It’s unclear when or if Instagram will make these changes available to all users around the world, as right now only a few users can post longer Stories.
