Hawaiian Airlines has said it will equip its fleet of Airbus A330 and A321neo planes as well as Boeing 787-9s with Starlink’s satellite internet connectivity service, Reuters reports. Last week, Starlink signed its first deal with an air carrier, Semi-Private Jet Service (JSX). Under this, 100 airplanes are to be equipped with Starlink terminals. There are also reports of Delta Airlines in talks with Starlink. It is believed that an important deal can happen between the two soon.
Starlink, which operates as a unit of SpaceX, has been in talks with various airlines for several months to provide ‘in-flight internet service’. The company wants to provide internet service across the world, especially in rural areas. Starlink’s focus is on such areas, where people do not get better internet connectivity due to geographical conditions.
