Key Specifications:

  • Apple releases iOS 16.1 beta 2 for the developers
  • The update is most likely to launch in October globally
  • The new update will bring changes to the Battery indicator, and Copy/Paste feature

iOS 16.1 beta 2 is out now and it carries a few changes alongside a few new highlights. There are speculations that Apple will be going to release the update in October. It is the month that also witnessed the release of iPadOS and macOS Ventura. Currently, the update releases to developers.

Battery Percentage Indicator

It brings some changes to the battery percentage indicator in the status bar. It was (finally) added on all iPhone models such as the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 mini, and the iPhone 13 mini in the iOS 16.1 beta 1. As per the report, the battery icon didn’t match the battery percentage. The new indicator is said to be dynamic and changes according to the battery level. The update brings some other minor changes and bug fixes as well.

Additionally, the battery indicator sports a bolder font. The battery percentage is also displayed while the ‌iPhone‌ begins to charge, and also when it is woken from sleep when charging. The battery percentage can also be viewed by simply tapping on the display without unlocking it.

Improvement in Copy/Paste Behavior

iOS 16 had introduced a new feature that would request the user to grant permission to access their iPhone’s clipboard for pasting text from other apps. However, users started complaining that the prompts were excessive.

People reported a bug in the three-finger gestures feature, which reveals the copy and paste menu and restricts it from properly recognizing it. It will solve this problem in the latest beta. The next interaction of iOS 16 will get other features such as Clean Energy Charging, Wallet app, and Live Activities API among others.

Apple Fitness+

Apple announces that Fitness+ will be going to roll out to iOS 16 “later this fall.” This means that users will no longer need to own an Apple Watch to enjoy the service. This feature is ready to arrive in 21 countries where the service is currently available. Now, some developers with iOS 16.1 beta 2 reveal that they are able to subscribe to Apple Fitness+ on the iPhone without owning an Apple Watch.

Apple is currently rolling out iOS 16.1 beta 2 to developers. The iPhone maker will be going to release the update to public beta testers soon.
