Reliance Jio has finally launched its budgeted laptop for some users. Jio Book is up for sale on Government e-Marketplace (GeM), from where only government staff can purchase the device.
The laptop is very sleek and lightweight in blue color. At the top right of the laptop, there is a Jio logo. The overlooks of the laptop are quite good. However, the laptop is made up of plastic.
Pricing and Availability of JioBook
The JioBook is currently available for government department employees via the GeM at Rs 19,500. For others, it will be available around Diwali.
Jio Book is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor with Adreno 610 GPU and runs on a custom version of the Jio OS with pre-installed apps like the Jio Cloud PC and Microsoft Ad browser. It comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage (eMMC), expandable through a microSD card.
The device sports an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 (HD) resolution screen with an anti-glare cover. It boots the ‘JioOS’ operating system, which is expected to be based either on Google ChromeOS or Microsoft Windows.
The JioBook has a dual-speaker system, two microphones, and a standard non-backlit keyboard. It has built-in support for 4G connectivity, USB-A 2.0 and 3.0 ports, HDMI, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0. It has a built-in HD webcam placed on the top screen bezel area
This device is not ideal for heavy use like gaming. The device also has an HD webcam for video calling right above the screen. The Jio Book houses a 55.1 to 60 AH battery, which claims to last up to eight hours on a single charge.
Currently, the Jio Book is listed on the GeM website for Rs 19,500. Notably, the company hasn’t revealed the official price of the Jio Book laptop yet, so we can expect the commercial pricing to change a bit. However, the design and the specifications may largely remain the same.
