Reliance’s Jio recorded an average download speed of 20.7 Mbps

Reliance’s Jio recorded an average download speed of 20.7 Mbps, according to data provided by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). With this, the company is ahead of the rest of the operators in 4G download speed. On the other hand, Vi (Vodafone Idea) has outperformed all its competitors with its highest upload speed of 6.3 Mbps. There was a slight increase in Jio’s 4G speed as compared to the previous results. However, it was three times faster than Vi which was the closest competitor to Jio. According to TRAI data, Jio’s 4G download speed was also four times the speed offered by Airtel during the month.

Vi ranked second in 4G download speed with an average download speed of 6.3 Mbps

The latest data provided by TRAI on the MySpeed portal shows that Jio recorded a speed of 20.7Mbps, a three percent increase from its 4G download speed of 20.1 Mbps last month. However, Vodafone’s Idea beat Jio in terms of upload speed. Vodafone Idea had an average 4G upload speed of 6.3 Mbps while Jio’s 4G upload speed was 4.2 Mbps. Vodafone Idea has even surpassed Airtel in this matter. Airtel’s average 4G upload speed in the same month was 3.6 Mbps.

Vi ranked second in 4G download speed with an average download speed of 6.3 Mbps recorded in the month of May. Airtel, on the other hand, recorded an average download speed of 4.7 Mbps.
This is the first time that TRAI has made data available for Vi since the merger of Vodafone and Idea in August 2018. The regulator had earlier entered separate data for Vodafone and Idea on its MySpeed portal.

Airtel’s average 4G upload speed in the same month was 3.6 Mbps.

Importantly, the average speed records provided by TRAI are based on data that it collects across India through the MySpeed app on a real-time basis. This means that you may see a difference between the data speed provided in the data and the data speed you are getting on your device.
