Krafton and iQoo announce Battlegrounds Mobile India tournament with Rs 1 crore prize money

iQoo has announced an “exclusive partnership” with Battlegrounds Mobile India and PUBG Mobile creator Krafton to promote Esports in India. As a part of the partnership, iQoo will be the title sponsor of the Battlegrounds Mobile India esports tournament that is expected to register over 1 lakh teams competing for a prize pool of Rs 1 crore.  There will be five stages — In-Game Qualifiers, Online Qualifiers, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Grand Finals.

Krafton extended the registrations for the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series. Players can still register for the BGMI India Series as the registration is going on.

Players registered for Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021 will have to participate in the in-game qualifiers from which 1024 teams will proceed to Round 1. Gaming enthusiasts will be able to watch and enjoy the talent and gamesmanship of all players on social media handles of Battlegrounds Mobile India and iQOO Esports Official YouTube Channel.

According to a recent industry report by App Annie and KPMG., the number of mobile game downloads in India reached 5.5 billion capturing 22 percent of the global share between January – July 2021. The trend is further expected to grow with a 53 percent increase in the number of gamers by 2025. In line with the growing trend, iQOO aims to provide a platform for potential professional gamers to showcase their best game-streaming talent.

As of the prize pool of Rs. 1 crore, it will be split between the top 16 teams:

  • First — Rs. 50,00,000
  • Second — Rs. 25,00,000
  • Third — Rs. 10,00,000
  • Fourth — Rs. 3,00,000
  • Fifth — Rs. 2,00,000
  • Sixth — Rs. 1,50,000
  • Seventh — Rs. 1,00,000
  • Eighth — Rs. 90,000
  • Ninth — Rs. 80,000, and so on

There are prizes for some other achievements as well. The MVP of the tournament will get Rs. 1,00,000, the Lone Ranger will get Rs. 50,000, The Rampage Freak will receive Rs. 50,000. Although Krafton has not announced the date of the BGMI India Series, we expect the company to share the details soon.
