Meta will introduce new formats of ads into the Instagram app




Meta finally announces that it will be going to roll out ads on Facebook and Instagram Reels now. These ads will help the platforms to make good businesses.

Meta announces this statement:

“Today, we’re announcing new ways for advertisers to reach customers in a range of ways based on how they are spending their time—whether through video, messaging, ads, or AI-enhanced experiences—and updates on our ongoing efforts with industry partners.”

According to the Company, new features are being introduced for advertisers to connect better with users on Instagram. Businesses can now place ads in Explore home, the grid which people see when they first arrive on the Explore tab. So users will see more ads in the Explore tab.

The new format of shorter ads is called “post-loop” ads, these 4- to 10-second skippable ads and standalone video ads will play after a Reel has ended. When the ad finishes playing, the Reel will then resume and loop again. Like TikTok, many Reels are designed to be watched more than once. But stuffing an ad at the end could see users instead choosing to scroll to a new video instead of watching the same one again. This is a risky move, as people will also likely consider this a poor user experience.

Instagram Reels ads

Brands can now place ads in the Explore feed. Additionally, a few creators will also be able to place profile ads, for which they will also be able to earn a cut of the revenue. Meta announces that it will add multi-advertiser contextual ads to existing Instagram feed ads. It will deliver ads that are more inclined with the interest of the user and are powered by machine learning.

Starting today, Meta is also testing image carousel ads for Reels. “These horizontally-scrollable ads can include anywhere from 2 to 10 image ads. It will display at the bottom of Facebook Reels content”, states Meta.

The company has also announced that it will augment Reality (AR) ads on Instagram for both Feed and Stories. This can be useful for things like trying new furniture at home or test-driving a car.
