- Microsoft recently revealed the prices and features available for the upcoming Office 2021.
- The latest client-based package will be released along with Windows 11.
- Microsoft Office 2021 will receive support for five years.
Microsoft is launching Office 2021 on October 5th, and the company is finally detailing the features and pricing today. Office 2021 will be the next standalone version of Microsoft’s Office suite, designed for businesses and consumers who want to avoid the subscription version of Microsoft 365. The updated look will also go live for Windows 10 users.
Microsoft is also adding in some Microsoft 365 features to Office 2021, including modern Excel features, PowerPoint improvements, better inking in Office apps, and Outlook translation support. In-Office 2021, you’ll find new inking tools, data types, functions, translation and editing tools, motion graphics, ease-of-use features, and so much more! Microsoft Office 2021 arrives in two versions: one for commercial users, called Office LTSC (which stands for Long Term Servicing Channel), and one for personal use.
Office Home and Student 2021 carries a price tag of $149.99 (approx Rs 11,100) and includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Microsoft Teams for PC and Mac. Office Home and Business 2021 is $249.99 (approx Rs 18,600), comes with everything in Office Home and Student 2021, plus Outlook for PC and Mac and the rights to use the apps for business purposes. New users can buy Office 2021 from retailers worldwide and via the Microsoft site from October 5.
Difference between Microsoft Office 2021 and Microsoft 365?
The most notable difference is how you pay for them. Office 2021 will be available with a one-off purchase (although Microsoft usually only supports each version for five years). For access to Microsoft 365, you’ll need to pay a regular subscription fee, with plans currently starting at £59.99/US$69.99 per year.
However, it’s not a case of having to pay regularly for the same service. In addition to the regular Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, and OneNote apps you’ll get with Office 2021, Microsoft 365 also provides access to Skype and 1TB of OneDrive storage. Microsoft Teams subscriptions also offer access to web-based versions of these services. The other key attraction of a Microsoft 365 subscription is the regular updates.
