  • The new feature will be available on both iOS and Android from February 23
  • Users will be able to change it only once per year.

The Photo and Video sharing platform- Snapchat is getting an update that allows users to change their usernames on the photo- and video-sharing platform. The much-awaited functionality will be available on both Android and iOS devices starting February 23.

Finally, Snapchatters will be able to change the username without having to create an entirely new account. The company confirmed that the username change won’t impact aspects of users’ accounts, friend lists, Snap codes, Snap scores, and memories. It is worth noting that users will be able to change it only once per year. Also, one won’t be able to choose a username that any Snapchat user has used in the past.

Once you change your username, you will not get the option to go to the old username. All this basically means that once you change your Snapchat username, it will never be available to everyone.

Snapchat says this was the much-requested feature, so it is finally offering it to its users. This is a good feature for those who are tired of using their old username and the new one will give users an opportunity to re-identify themselves. The new feature was previously only available to those who were based in Australia. Besides, other social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter already offer the ability to change usernames.

How to change the username on Snapchat

  1. Open the Snapchat account and faucet the Bitmoji icon to head to the profile display.
  2. Select settings by tapping on the gear icon.
  3. Tap Username, and choose Change Username.
  4. Click proceed on the pop-up and enter the brand new Username.
  5. Click on subsequent.

Snapchat is also planning to start showing ads on stories, which will help creators earn money. It is being tested with a small group of creators in the US and will allow people to earn money from mid-roll ads that appear in the middle of Snapchat Stories. Snapchat will roll the feature out to everyone in the coming months.
