WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make it easier for users to view status updates of their family and friends. Meta’s messaging app, according to a new report, is planning to introduce a feature that will let users view status updates within the chat list.
WABetaInfo reports that the company is planning to change
Till now when users view the chat list on WhatsApp, they see the delivery status of the message with single and double ticks. Apart from this, the messaging app also shows whether a particular message has been read by the receiver when the feature is on. All this information is displayed in the name of the contact. Now, WABetaInfo reports that the company is planning to change that.
A screenshot of the feature shared by the blog site shows that when the feature comes to the app, WhatsApp users will see a status update with the name of the contact instead of the last message shared. The blog site said that when a contact uploads a new status update, it will also appear in the chat list: all you have to do is tap on their profile picture to see the status update.
While this is useful for keeping up with the updates of people who share status updates on WhatsApp, it is not much help in the case of contacts who do not share status updates. The blog site also states that users who don’t see status updates or posts or don’t like the feature will be able to revert to the current setting.
Let us know that this feature was first reported earlier this year-
but now WhatsApp has started rolling it out for select beta users. As far as availability is concerned, the blog site says that this feature is available on WhatsApp beta for Android version 22.214.171.124. Along with this, iOS users are expected to get access to this feature soon.
Screenshot blocking was one of those features and was under development on WhatsApp beta for iOS, and has not been spotted on Android beta by the WhatsApp beta tracker website WABetaInfo.
When the recipient tries to take a screenshot to view once images and videos,
the screenshot will be automatically blocked, but the sender will not receive any notification. However, a user can still take photos using a secondary phone or camera.Using this feature, which is similar to Stories, users can publish pictures and videos that disappear after 24 hours.
Recently, Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced three new privacy features on WhatsApp, giving users more control over their conversations and adding layers of protection when messaging.
After launching several new features this year,
the Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out the ability to watch Status directly from WhatsApp’s chat list for iOS users.
According to WABetaInfo, the beta version 126.96.36.199 is bringing the ability to view Status updates within the chat list. It has been released to certain beta testers, and therefore, it is still not available to everyone.
