Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) II: The Sith Lords is heading to the Nintendo Switch on June 8th, as announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event. The sequel to the classic KOTOR RPG is supposed to feature some performance enhancements and resolution upgrades, as well as a Restored Content DLC set to arrive post-launch.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords was originally released for Xbox back in 2004. The following year, it made its way over to PC. The game proved a hit amongst players, selling over a million copies in the United States alone and earning generally positive reviews across the board. Now, it is finally making its way to the Switch, joining its predecessor which arrived on the console last November.

News of the game’s upcoming Switch debut was accompanied by a quick teaser. The less than a minute-long trailer offers a glimpse at what adventures fans can get up to in the ported title. From daring lightsaber battles to quick blaster duels, Knights of the Republic 2 offers a classic Star Wars adventure for fans with some fun twists. Plus, the trailer promises that the Restored Content DLC will soon make its way to the Switch version.

“We’re really grateful that we get to work on such amazing and beloved titles for fans of the original game and new ones exploring these experiences for the first time,” says Michael Blair, senior director of Business Development at Aspyr. “With the resolution updates, performance optimizations, and The Sith Lords Restored Content DLC coming post-launch, we hope gamers will see this becoming one of the ideal platforms to dive into the galaxy showcased in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.”

In KOTOR II, you’ll choose your own destiny, with each decision impacting the story. The game features three different classes of Jedi — each with access to specific Force powers and customization options — from which to select, while you command a party of diverse crewmates. But will you choose the light side and save the galaxy, or follow the dark side and destroy it? The studio is developing the highly-anticipated KOTOR remake.
