  • The new features include Infinite Emoji reactions, an Improved login experience, Unique Profile URL, and more

Cloud-based instant messaging service Telegram finally rolls out its latest update with a host of features. The new additions include an extended library of emoji reactions, emoji support on status for premium subscribers, improved login experience for iOS users, smoother in-app transition animations and priority downloads on Android, auto-apply support on icon packs for Android 13 users, and a change in format for a user’s unique profile URL.

Telegram Premium subscribers can now use all animated emojis as a status, in addition to the default seven that can change colors based on the theme. For instance, you can choose a rotating controller emoji to indicate you’re busy fragging on your Xbox

Better Login System

There’s also a better login system now for “users who log out and log back in frequently” that can send a temporary code to your email address or can utilize Sign In with Apple or Google

Infinite Emojis

Telegram v9.0 update will offer users “infinite” more ways to express how they are “feeling”. The Emoji library, previously limited to premium users, has now been extended to free users while paid subscribers will receive an even more extensive list of emoji to choose from, one that the company is calling “infinite emoji”

Premium Telegram users will now be able to react to the group and 1-on-1 messages with emojis, much like the feature seen on the office messaging platform, Slack. However, even premium Telegram users will be restricted to three emoji reactions per message

Emoji statuses

The platform lets premium users set animated emojis as statuses that will appear next to their name. Users would be able to choose one of seven standard statuses or from an infinite number of custom emojis. According to Telegram, the chosen emoji will replace the premium badge in the chat list.

Other Updates

Android 13 users can choose a thematic Telegram icon. This will adapt to their phone’s dark mode settings and accent color.

Telegram has also introduced a new unique link format for usernames – username.t.me, which the company claims will help users emphasize their name audibly while also eliminating the trouble of having to find the ‘/’ key on the keyboard, prevalent on the previous link format.
