The Google Home app is getting a major revamp to give users a more customizable experience

Ahead of the global launch event on October 7, Google has made a bunch of announcements for its Google Home app that will help users control smart home devices including Nest speakers, smart displays, and routers better.

As the Google Home app has grown and changed over the years, it’s become increasingly cluttered and, as a result, more frustrating to use. That may not be the case for long, though, as Google has announced that there’s a major overhaul of Home in the works. The Company wants users to give it a spin in a Public Preview program.

Google Home app: New features, updates

Google has announced that Google Home app users will now get a new Spaces feature that will let them control multiple devices in different rooms. They can even categorize devices, as they like. Currently, there are a few lists including kitchen, bedroom, and living room, in the app.

The new update brings a redesigned interface. After the update, the new event feed tab will show all the important events from your smart home setup.

Users can even mark their frequently used devices as favorites so that they can get easy access to such devices right from the home screen. A new media widget has also been introduced in the app. It will show what the users will be able to control what media is playing in your house

Google has introduced a few Nest app features in the Google Home app. It includes easier navigation for the camera feed for viewing.

Google Home app is finally arriving on the Web

The Company further announces that the app is now coming on the web, which will let users manage smart home devices from their PC instead of their phone. The app will be going to roll out with Pixel Watch which is scheduled to launch on October 7.

In addition to this, the Google Home app will now show you “Routines” that will let you set schedules for different devices like saying “I am about to eat dinner” and it dims the lights, locks the front door, and more.

Meanwhile, Google in partnership with Tata Play has launched the Google Nest Security Camera in India. This camera will enable users to keep surveillance of their homes and small offices. It will use Satellite based platform for a better user experience. The Google Nest Cam comes with a price tag of Rs 11,999.
