Crash Detection Feature

Apple officially unveils iPhone 14 Series at the Far Out Event yesterday. Two new models are set to be released, with both a standard 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and a brand new 6.7″ iPhone 14 Plus model.

Talking about the upgrades that the new iPhone series 14 comes in the form of major camera enhancements for low light photography, a faster GPU, satellite calling connectivity, and crash detection. Apple is claiming to be the best battery life on the iPhone 14 Plus.

Here’s a quick overview of all of the new iPhone 14 features, which include more robust eSIM support and new Emergency SOS via satellite functionality.

Apple finally unveils globally the iPhone 14 series. It consists of four models— the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are the smaller models, the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the ones aimed at those who prefer larger screens.


The first notable design change with the iPhone 14 Pro models is the display. The notch is being replaced by a pill-shaped cutout that will house the Face ID components and a second circular cutout for the front-facing camera.

For the first time, the iPhone models in the US will not have a SIM tray. The latest smartphones come with E-sim activation without Wi-Fi in the US.

Satellite Communication Technology

The smartphone also comes with satellite emergency communication technology that can be used to send SOS messages over satellite. The feature will be starting in US and Canada and it will be free with iPhone 14 for two years. All the phones also come with a crash-detection feature. It will automatically dial emergency services when a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone.

Camera Features

On the camera front, Apple has added ultrawide and a new 12-megapixel main camera with f/1.5 aperture and sensor-based stabilization which as per the company’s claim offers a 49 percent improved image quality in low-light conditions. The Night Mode in the camera is also said to be 2x faster now. On the front also there’s a new 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera with autofocus around the front. Apple has also added a technology called “Photonic Engine” which the company says is a giant leap in low-light captures. The video camera gets a new stabilization mode – Action Mode that will help deliver smooth jerk-free videos.

The iPhone 14 will cost you $799 (roughly Rs. 63,700). Similarly, the iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899 (roughly Rs. 71,600). Both phones will be available for purchase in Blue, Midnight, Purple, Starlight, and RED color options.

The iPhone 14 Pro starts at Rs 1,29,900 while the iPhone 14 Pro Max at Rs 1,39,900.

Preorders of the iPhone 14 series will begin on September 9. The iPhone 14 will go on sale starting September 16 and the iPhone 14 Plus will go on sale from October 7.
