WhatsApp tests new feature, soon users can share documents with caption: Report

WhatsApp, an instant messaging platform, is testing a new feature for Android users. The upcoming feature will help users share documents with a caption. The news follows recent developments that the Meta-owned platform is testing a subscription program for some users.

WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, tested the feature by selecting a document within the chat share sheet and a caption bar shows up. “Thanks to the caption bar, we are able to attach a caption to the document before sharing it with the recipient,” said WABetaInfo in a report.

The feature will allow the users to include a caption while sharing documents. Android users will be able to find a Caption Panel that they can use to attach the caption to any document. The caption bar is expected to appear whenever users try to select a document.

The feature can be helpful as documents that come with a caption are easier to search and find. Currently, this feature is available for only a select number of beta testers. Meta is expected to bring the feature to more Android beta users.

WhatsApp currently offers this ability only for the photos, videos and GIFs shared on its platform. The new update when goes live will add an ability to write a caption for the documents that you will share in the chat.
