Xbox Series S, the entry-level next-gen gaming console from Microsoft, is tipped to see a hike in price in India later this month. Along with the Series S, Xbox Controller and Xbox Wireless Headset will also see an increase in their prices. However, there has been no word if the Xbox Series X will also see a price hike as well. While no official reason has been offered for the price hike, it is being speculated that the increase in INR exchange rate with the US dollar could be a reason behind the hike.

The tip comes from known industry insider Rishi Alwani, who took to Twitter to share that Microsoft will be increasing Xbox prices in India. Xbox Series S console and all of its supported accessories are getting more expensive starting June 30, 2022.

Xbox Series S & peripherals to get a price hike in India

It has been almost two years since Microsoft announced the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles in India. With support for ray tracing and several advanced features, these consoles promised a major evolution in console gaming experience. Microsoft had kept the price unchanged despite the global chip shortage going around the world.

According to rumour, the Xbox Series S console, which has been available at a price of Rs. 34,990, will now be available at a price of Rs. 36,990. The controller that is compatible with the console will now cost Rs. 5,590, up from the previous Rs. 5,390. The Xbox wireless headset will be available at a price of Rs. 9,490, which is higher than the previous price of Rs. 8,990. There is nothing on the Xbox Series X console yet, and the price hike will be eligible from June 30.

These changes are said to be a result of the fluctuating exchange rates of the Indian Rupee (₹) against the US Dollar. Currently, it is unclear if the same price hikes will also come to the Xbox Series X or even the Sony Play Station 5. So, if you’ve been thinking of buying a new gaming console in India, this might be the right time before the prices go up.
