Highlights:

  • The new feature being rolled out by WhatsApp will only be limited to the beta version.
  • The latest update on the WhatsApp desktop has added a new pause button.
  • This pause button is a replacement for the stop icon that is available in the stable version of the platform

WhatsApp is rolling out a new, improved version of voice notes for those who use the desktop version of the messaging app. The company has started rolling out the ability to pause and resume voice recordings. This update comes weeks after the platform added the feature to let you listen to recordings before sending them.

Most people don’t have the time to type out messages, and sending voice notes can make things a bit easier for them in that regard. WhatsApp has recently expanded its offerings to allow users to operate the platform through a desktop app. This latest feature follows a recent update that allowed users to listen to their voice notes before sending them. It’s pretty clear that the instant messaging platform wants more users taking advantage of voice notes, arguably because this is- how said users expect to communicate in the coming years.

WhatsApp is adding two new pencils to the in-built media editor. While a pencil has been there to draw over images and screenshots before users send them, the only control offered so far was color customization. Now, users will also be able to choose between three sizes as well.

Whatsapp Update: New Features

1. WhatsApp will introduce new colors for chat bubbles when using a dark theme on the desktop.

2. The app is testing a new feature in iOS beta to enable and disable reactions to messages. You can find this setting in Settings > Notifications.

3. Another new feature is a unique global voice memo player that will be released in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS. This will allow you to continue listening to voice memos even when you switch to a different chat. This feature is also expected to roll out to Android soon. However, it is available in the beta version for iOS, and only selected users can use it.
