Highlights:

  • WhatsApp to soon let iOS users pause and record voice messages.
  •  The company is working on a “global voice message player.
  • This feature could be useful when you receive a long voice message.

Whatsapp is working on a lot of new features and finally, WhatsApp is getting several improvements, in particular for voice messages. WhatsApp is working on the possibility to pause voice messages while recording them, for a future update. This feature is very useful because it won’t force you to stop and record a new one.

It is working on a “global voice message player,” which will allow you to listen to voice messages even after leaving the chats. WabetaInfo says when you play voice message and leave that chat, it will then be pin to the top of the main app. The cited source says the app will display the voice message on the top of every section or chat you visit.

After stopping recording the voice message, you will find another record button: when you tap it, you will be able to resume recording the voice note! This is convenient for those who want to have a conversation with their long-distance friends. This feature allows users to listen to a long recording while replying to another recipient.

WhatsApp has also re-introduced an end-to-end encryption feature for chat backups. Earlier, the feature was introduced on the beta versions of both Android and iOS, but it was withdrawn later. WhatsApp re-introduced it for beta testers last week.  End-to-end encrypted backups has been enabling in the latest WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.21.21.5 update as well as the WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.21.200.14 update.

What is special about this feature?

The expected update will be “very useful” for WhatsApp users as they will no longer have to stop and delete a voice message and record a new one all over again. Instead, the new feature will enable users to pause the voice recording by tapping on a pause button and resume the recording again from the same point where they left it. The feature had been spotted during the development of WhatsApp updates for iOS.

If your friend has sent a really long message, and you get a text from another friend, you can reply to that text while listening to the audio message sent by another friend.
